My new studio

We’ve now been in our new home for 4 months and I’ve almost completed the conversion of the double garage to a new studio. I ripped out lots of dark and hideous shelving, cleaned out the rats nest in the beams, disinfected and then lined out the shed with plywood and added a reflective insulation panel ceiling.

The most important part of the makeover were 2 sliding doors and a large window to bring in the light and allow me to see the lovely river view. Oh…and I put in a sink and running water which I have always longed for in my previous studio spaces!

I now have a space to paint, to store my canvases , an area for ecoprinting and another for collagraph printing. I’ve set up a picture hanging track on 3 walls to store and display paintings as well.

It’s really made a difference having a dedicated space with water laid on and clear areas for different creative tasks. I’m still tweaking things as I go but I’m pretty happy with the amount of light in my painting area and the flow between the work areas.
