Daily Mini Paintings and Wattle Delight

Postcard No 50: Life by the River

Today I’ve hit the 50 mark in my daily mini paintings documenting my life beside the Huon River here in southern Tasmania. I’m aiming for 365 ( a full year’s worth) so there are plenty more to come. Today I’m continuing the wattle theme .

As I drive up and down the river road my senses are constantly assaulted by golden yellows

Assaulted is not quite the right word, it’s a much more charming experience than assaulted suggests! Regaled, bombarded, assailed…nothing seems quite right to describe the abundance of gold at the moment.

Wherever I turn there are wattles in bloom. Across the river there’s a glow on the hills as they peek through the morning fog, I round the corner at Castle Forbes Bay and the steep hillside is covered with masses of golden trees and as I walk beside the road to my neighbours house there are a couple of small wattles absolutely laden with yellow balls of sunshine.

Happiness is in the air…along with a fair amount of pollen!
