All Washed Up: Postcard No 59

In a recent post I mentioned the flotsom and jetsom that washes up along the river. Today I did a watercolour sketch of a mooring buoy that washed up after a blustery night next to our little jetty.

It’s not really a proper jetty but I don’t really know what to call it …so jetty it is.

The rusty chain has lots of character and works well with the orange of the buoy.

The orange is borrowed from other buoys on the river because the actual dirty white was too boring and bland!

Trying out the Alvaro Castagnet curated ste of Daniel Smith tube watercolours that came in the post yesterday.

I had a set of 36 Daniel Smith watercolour tubes that I really loved and had barely used. Sadly they were stolen on an overseas trip and I just haven’t been able to justify spending that much money on a new set. Mostly because my skill level isn’t worth that much!

I do prefer tubes over pans so I decided to splash out on a new set, only much smaller. This one doesn’t have a lot of the colours I loved but it does have a lot of colours I regularly use so it’s the one I opted for.

Let’s see if my watercolour sketches improve.

Another treasure from the deep! I love the “not now dirty white” of the orange buoy.

    Hi Lindy

Aw that is a beautiful story, those tubes of paint look fabulous.

I am sure your watercolours will improve.Thank you for the name of those watercolours.

The rusty chain sets the painting off.

    regards
