Life by the River

After a busy day it’s lovely just sitting in the lounge room looking out as the light begins to fade. I love the way the clouds play such a part in how the evening light unfolds.

Tonight there is a layer of clouds over the mountains upriver and they created a dark sky with mellow light on the hills and a sliver of silver on the river. The reeds were very light cream and I can’t get the photo of the postcard to capture the colour properly so you’ll just have to imagine it!

Minutes after I painted this one the clouds started to light up with rosy pinks. Now it’s dark with only the twinkling houselights from across the river lighting our view.
