Life by the River
I’m sitting on the couch giving some attention to MInk , our cat. She’s adapted well to the move to our new hon=me and after 11 months here has settled into her routine.
In summer that involves a lot of in and out because the doors are always open. She had a cat flap at the old place so she could come and go as she pleased but here we are right off the main road and as she wasn’t used to traffic we kept a pretty tight control on her until she got used to it. She shows a remarkably sensible approach to the road…just never goes down the front lawn and drive and spends her time in the garden above the house.

One of her favourite spots is on the back patio retaining wall. It’s right next to 3 water ponds where the birds like to gather , swooping in and out of the water, chattering in the maple tree and generally flitting around.
Right after dinner she asks to be let out and pops round for a drink at the waterhole and a spot of bird watching.
I sketched this one up using Daniel Smith watercolours .
