Sunday Afternoon Rain: Postcard No 134

Life by the River

A balmy Sunday morning turned into a squally afternoon…but the clouds were worth it… and I didn’t have to water the garden. The bonus was how beautiful the rain clouds were as they piled up over the hills. Today’s postcard sorted!

I really regret not buying a much more expensive sketch book for this project! This one said it was suitable for watercolour and I chose it because wanted a lot of pages to keep the Life by the River watercolour postcards in one book.

I did have doubts and I should have listened to that inner voice. The paper isn’t strong enough, it rubs really easily if I’m lifting out and it buckles like crazy.

I’ve taken to ironing the pages every couple of weeks to try and flatten it out!

Still, despite these drawbacks, I’m enjoying trying to improve my watercolour skills, responding to the world around me by the Huon River and learning to pay attention to that inner voice.
