Life by the River
My husband called me to come and see what was in the garden. Snuffling around in the monbretia patch was a lovely echidna putting on a really photographic disply. i went and grabbe dmy camera at which point they disappeared behind the montbretias to have a drink from one of the water bowls in the garden.
i waited awhile but they stayed hidden. Later I had a call from our son who lives in a unit at the top of the garden to say the echidna was waddling up his path if I wanted some photos. Again they hid away when I came near. Later still I popped out on the off chance and they were in a different part of the garden where they happily wandered around in the open letting me have all the photos and videos I wanted.
A reminder that sometimes we have to be patient and persistent. In truth it was a welcome distraction from painting some small figures in a commission painting. I should have finished it yesterday but it’s tricky getting realistic people on a small scale when they definitely need to look like very particular people!
Oh well tomorrow I’ll get them done … as long as the wildlife cooperate and stay in the bush instead of enticing me to down brush and pick up the camera.
