Life by the River

It’s been a funny year for fruit. The first year raspberries are doing great but the plums that fruited so well last year have been very thin on the trees.

There’s a little apple tree up behind the garden studio and it fruited prolifically last year but the birds got them because I failed to net them. It’s got masses of fruit again this year and yesterday I discovered the “birds” that ate them last year.

Here’s the furry, not feathered, culprit, happily plucking the low hanging fruit in broad daylight while my husband chatted away to them.
