Mother's Day gift

Mother’s Day – handmade with love.

May 7, 2016

I wanted to make something personal for my Mum this Mother’s Day. For me as a mum the gifts I appreciate most are the one’s that show thought and caring, maybe they take a little time , like a board game or tell me that my sons know me, like  a travel set of brushes. … More Mother’s Day – handmade with love.

“Point and click” I hate that expression.

April 29, 2016

I really loathe the expression “point and click”. The word I really object to is point. It’s such a sneery term implying that as the owner of a digital camera with a very good auto function I will simply point my camera at any scene and click away with no more thought than if I were flicking … More “Point and click” I hate that expression.

Just finished stitching up this cape. It will be heading off to my Etsy shop shortly but I'm going to enjoy looking at it for a few days. 🙂 Fired up by big copper dirty pot and loaded up a vintage wool blanket with eucalyptus leaves and onion skins. These are destined for capes. Loving those dramatic string marks. I love using acrylic inks to block in my acrylic paintings. I can really let go with the colours and then just allow some of them to show through in a more restrained way in the finished piece. This is the underpainting for a large commission piece which I just handed over to the new owners. I plan on slowing down the number of commissions I take on to work on some of my own projects- let's seee how that goes! I will miss this painting.Rock Pool. Friendly Beaches has been hanging on my studio wall for the last 4 weeks but now it's going to a new home. If you've fallen in love with one of the many great paintings at the Art Society of Tasmanias annual members exhibition at the Long Gallery get in quick before someone else buys it! #tasmanianpaintings #tasmanianartist #tasmanianarrt #friendlybeachestasmania #artsocietyoftasmania #thelonggalleryatsalamancaartscentre There's such a wonderful mix of art styles here at the Art Society Of Tasmania annual exhibition... Something for all tastes. Pop in if you're down at Salamanca. We're in the Long Gallery. A great opening night for the 138th annual exhibition of the Art Society of Tasmania. I was pretty chuffed to win second prize for this large acrylic! A big thank you to the judges and the AST committee and congratulations to all the other prize winners especially the very talented Gaye Sutherland who took out the Best in Show with a superb painting. Check out all the talent on display at The Long Gallery, Salamanca . I can't bear to throw out the barrier papers when they print like this. I have a box of them and cut them up to use for small labels on recycled boxes and little gift cards . If you eco print as well I'm guessing you have your own stash:) A few silk scarves I finally got round to loading into my Etsy shop. All quite different and I think the first is my favourite. Do you have a fave? The landscapes have been amazing but the smaller details have been just as beautiful. Although it's not wildflower season there were still plenty of pockets of lovely colour on our way from Exmouth to Jurien Bay.
