Life by the River
I’ve been doing some bird photography lately. Not very good photography but I’m persisting. So I’m really noticing the birdlife along the river more than usual. I’ve always loved birds and so when i say more than usual I mean I’m a bit obsessed!

I was driving upriver to my mum’s today and rounding a sharp corner I caught sight of a marsh harrier hovering expertly over the reed bed.
I had to pay attention to the road so it was just a fleeting look but it was so beautiful that the memory stayed with me all day.
It was one of those times I used my visual memory to sketch it out later that evening.
Something about the stillness of the bird and the simplicity of the reeds created a perfect moment for me.
This reminded me that you don’t always need a camera to capture a moment..our memories are very good at taking a fleeting impression and imprinting it without the need for a mechanical device.
Still that won’t stop me trying to perfect the art of bird photography!
