A Bunch of Lovliness: Postcard No 138

Life by the River

Sometimes I get busy and the postcards take a back seat but it’s usually only one day. This week I’ve missed two so it’s time to get back into it.

Yesterday I had a lovely afternoon opening the mural I painted with a fellow artist. Afterwards in a small ceremony I was presented with a Life Membership to the local art group which I’ve been a member of for around 20 years and which I’ve tutored at for the last 11 as well as serving as President and Vice President for five years. It was a small and friendly gathering of arty friends and I came away with a happy heart and a bunch of beautiful flowers.

I always tell my students it just takes time and practice and they’ll improve and get to grips with the skills needed to be a good pastellist. I say everyone can paint if they practice enough.

I don’t tell them this doesn’t seem to apply to me and watercolours!!
