A Little Evening Study: Postcard No 140

Life by the River

Today’s postcard is another evening sky. This one is a little softer than yesterday though. I’m also back to the acrylic gouache after a bit of a dip into the watercolours and I have to say it’s a relief! I seem to have a much more intuitive approach to gouache so it’s a more relaxing experience.

Loving all the violets and subtle pinks . My friend and fellow artist, Karen, would approve of the palette.

The wild banana passionfruit still has a couple of flowers hanging on. adding another splash of pink to the foreground.

I need to paint with bigger brushes more often in my large paintings because it definitely loosens everything up.

I’ve already noticed how these postcards are influencing my approach to larger works and am hoping by the end of the project I’ll have made some leaps in my skill set.
