Day on the Deck: Postcard No 141

Life by the River

What a simply beautiful summer’s day down her by the river. I spent a good deal of it in the studio working on a commission. The sliding doors were wide open, the birds were singing and a gentle breeze kept me cool.

Just before lunch I saw Trevor heading off to the lounge chairs under y=the shade of the big oak tree with a book in hand and I followed suit. I don’t often down the paintbrush before lunch when I have commissions on the go but it was too tmpting to skive off with a book for half an hour.

We lunched on the front deck with sparkling view of the river and the flitting by of sparrows, blackbirds and honeyeaters.

That chair is very comfy and I had to kick myself out of it and back to the studio after another half hour of relaxing.

I finished the commission , watered the raspberry patch and sat at the dining table to paint this postcard of the deck and river beyond.

A pretty good day all round!
