Through the Trees: Postcard No 146

Life by the River

All along the river there are open stretches where you can see the river clearly but there are also lots of views through the trees. I like the way tree trunks and branches divide the river view into little windows. Our own view has open areas and views through small stands of eucalypts of various sizes. It’s interesting when I hear a boat chugging upriver and suddenly it glides out from behind the trees and then just as quickly slips behind the next stand.

Today’s postcard is a view through the trees on the Cygnet side of the river…almost directly across form where we live. I reached for the pastels for this one. and used a small offcut left over from class. I’d used it to show students answers to their questions as we talked about their work so it was covered in different colours and marks but they have all disappeared behind this little scene. It’s Colourfix paper so it can take lots of layers and was easy to cover the classwork.
