My pastel colour wheel storage box.

This term I’ve been tutoring a pastel class again at The Colour Circle. I always have a theme for each term and this time I decided we would focus on finding colour with our colour wheels.

I had the inspired idea to make a colour wheel pastel storage box on a fairly large scale so it would be easy to demonstrate colour schemes and quickly choose the right colours for demos.

I have to say it’s been a big success. the students have loved it and it’s made my life a lot easier as well.

If you’re interested in seeing how I made it drop me a comment and I’ll make a video demo.

Hi Lindy What a brilliant idea. I’d love to see how you made it please. I have one of those round, sectioned Tupperware container with a lid. Might be perfect for this Kindest regards Susy Xxxx

      Hi Susy,
I do love using it! I looked for something like the tupperware container but I wanted the 12 divisions like the colour wheel so went ahead and made my own. Goo dluck with your Tuppaware. Lindy πŸ™‚

Hi Lindy! I, for one, would love to see a video on it. I’ve always found you to be one of the most down to earth, easy to understand, informative pastelists around! I miss your Patreon days! Kind regards, Jacquie

This wheel arrangement looks so good, and manageable too. I find the big rectangular box with divisions idea so inconvenient in use !

Hi Dolma, It’s a great size. I can pack it up easily to take to class and it fits neatly on a small side table near my easel. I still have thousands of other pastels in other boxes but this is so convenient! Lindy πŸ™‚

Oh my gosh I love the wheel. I’ve been trying to create a travel set and just bought (another) half set of senneliers BUT I have an old Tupperware party container that’s this shape that I’m going to have a play with. Thanks!Di RobertsonSent from my iPhoneOn 10 Jul 2026,

Hi Di, I think the Tuppaware container with lid is a really good idea for a travel set. I have a Blue Earth landscape travel set that’s very compact and works well for small paintings when I’m traveling. I’ve tried lots of iteratrions of travel sets over the years and one of my favourites was an old metal chocolate tin with 8 seperate altaoid tins filled with different colours that fit perfectly in the main tin. very secure for travel.
